Adopting one animal won’t change the world,
but it will change the world for that one animal

PHOENIX

Eve

Though Phoenix looks like Eve's doppelganger, they are not related.

Phoenix has been patiently waiting for her forever home since November 6, 2022. Before arriving at APL, life hadn’t been kind to her. She was found barely alive, locked in a home the owners had moved out of two weeks earlier. When she came to us, she was severely underweight at just 22 pounds and her attending vet warned that she may not survive.  True to her name, she’s made incredible progress, but the effects of her past still linger.

Because of what she’s been through, Phoenix may need a little time to learn to trust new people. She can also be protective of her food, so she’ll need an understanding adopter who will respect her boundaries and help her continue to feel safe.

Once you earn her trust, you’ll discover the sweetest companion. Phoenix loves to cuddle, enjoys treats, and can never resist a good tennis ball. She has a gentle, laid-back personality and is happiest spending time with the people she loves.

Phoenix would thrive in a calm, quiet home with minimal stairs, a soft bed to curl up in, and someone willing to show her the love and security she’s always deserved. She gets along with other dogs but would require a meet and greet. After spending so much of her life waiting, it’s finally her turn to know what it feels like to belong.
