Adoption Information
All pets adopted from APL have been spayed or neutered, because we believe the suffering of unwanted animals will end only when unwanted litters are prevented.
No adoptions take place on the same day an application is submitted; that includes from the shelter, or from an adoption event.
For dog adoptions, a fenced yard is strongly encouraged.
The application review process may take several days because:
- Your references will be contacted
- Your veterinarian will be contacted
- A meet-and-greet of new pet and all household family members will be required
- A meet-and-greet of new pet and existing pets will be required
- A home visit may be required
Adoption fees start at $125 for a cat, and $250 for a dog. The fee helps cover the cost of the spay/neuter and all other health care your pet has received while at the shelter. Many times, the fee does not actually cover the full cost of preparing a pet for adoption.
RETURN POLICY: We will take the pet you adopted from us back, at anytime, for any reason, without conditions. Yes, It’s just that simple. You can return your pet in a day, a month, a year, or ten years. We want the pet back. Our full return policy is short and simple.
